How to Apply Your Custom Topical Solution

For many of you, you’ll likely begin with a custom topical solution because applying hair growth ingredients topically reduces your chance of side effects significantly. It’s also the best way for us to know how you respond to the medication before you start on oral medications if you’d like to.

Start on a clean scalp. Does that mean you have to take a shower twice a day? No, as long as you don’t have a ton of product in your hair, you should be fine to apply. The main thing is that you avoid blocking hair follicles from the medication.

Use your marked pipette included in your bottle top. Use .5 mL on the left side of your scalp and .5 mL on the right side of your scalp. Whenever we apply topical treatments, be sure you’re applying it evenly to the areas you see thinning or loss. How often should you do it? Once a day, then move up to twice a day on week two.

Special note for women using topical Minoxidil: If you get prescribed over 6% Minoxidil, it’s important that you apply your topical with care. If you happen to get your medication on your face, you may start to see unwanted hair growth where the product drips. You may also notice some breakouts during the first month or so, if that happens let us know and we’ll make an adjustment to your formula.

How to Apply Your Topical Lipsomal Formula

Application for your Topical Finasteride (Liposomal Formula) is the same as our original topical application. The only difference is how it’s dispensed, you won’t need to measure out how much of the lipsomal you need to apply, because the pump dispenses the correct amount for each side of your scalp. One pump works for the left side and one pump for the right side.

Pro tip: The liposomal base makes the product creamy so the application is much more controlled without any dripping, if that’s something you’re not a fan of. This liposomal base also further reduces any chance of side effects. If you’re interested in this formula, just ask your Happy Head dermatologist to change your subscription.

How to Use Your Scalp Dermaroller And Custom Topical

You can use your dermaroller 2-4 times a week. Ask your dermatologist what’s best for you. Before you apply your topical solution, gently roll the dermaroller over your scalp for a minute or two, in alternating directions. Then apply your topical solution evenly to all areas of your scalp you’re seeing thinning. Remember to your sterilize your dermaroller after every use in 70% isopropyl alcohol.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Oral Medications

If you’re taking a prescription oral medication, we do have different options including our SuperCapsule™ available in three formulations for men and women over 50, Oral Minoxidil, Oral Finasteride, Oral Dutasteride, and more.

SuperCapsule™

You’ll only need to take one capsule each day. This all-in-one hair growth solution is formulated with Finasteride, Dutasteride or Spironolactone, Minoxidil, and essential Vitamin D3.

Pro Tip: Whatever time of day you choose, stick to that time to stay consistent. Consistency is key to seeing hair growth results in 3-6 months.

Oral Minoxidil

Our Oral Minoxidil comes in a 2.5 mg pill for two doses. Our dermatologists recommend you break it in half, then take one half in the morning and one half in the evening. If you’re not loving the idea of breaking your pill in half, we will be launching a 1.2 mg pill soon. So ask your Happy Head doctor about that.

Hair Growth Supplements

Take four capsules each daily: two in the morning, and two in the evening. Remember to take them after you eat or during a meal.

Pro Tip: While we do recommend prescription medication for hair loss, a supplement is great for anyone looking to support healthy hair and skin.
